US President Donald Trump has officially announced that a “grand” parade will be held in Washington on 14 June, his 79th birthday. He announced this in a post on the Truth Social platform.

“I am proud to announce that we will be holding a grand parade in honour of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. It will take place on Saturday, 14 June, in Washington, DC. For two and a half centuries, our brave soldiers have fought, bled and sacrificed for our freedom. Now, we will honour them with a magnificent parade worthy of their service and sacrifice,” Trump wrote.

According to the Associated Press, more than 6,600 soldiers, as well as at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters and nine bands will take part in the parade. In addition, several thousand civilians may join the event. According to the Washington City Paper, the parade route will stretch for almost 6.5 km from the Pentagon to the White House.

Interestingly, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the US Army coincides with President Trump’s birthday, which adds personal significance to the event for the head of the White House.
