US President Donald Trump has promised to cooperate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the search for Patriot air defence systems to protect Ukrainian civilians.

This was reported by the White House following a telephone conversation between the leaders of the United States and Ukraine, reports Yevropeiska Pravda.

Working together for a “real end to the war”

According to the White House, during the conversation, the presidents agreed that “Ukraine and America will continue to work together to achieve a real end to the war” and that “under Trump’s leadership, a lasting peace can be achieved.”

Zelenskyy used this opportunity to ask the US for additional air defence systems, including Patriot systems, which could significantly strengthen the defence of Ukrainian cities against Russian missile attacks.

“President Trump has agreed to work with him to find affordable systems, particularly in Europe,” the White House said in a statement.

Trump tells Zelensky about his conversation with Putin

In addition, the American leader “fully informed” Zelenskyy about his previous telephone dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The details of the talks between Trump and Putin have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that the conversation concerned the ceasefire and military operations in Ukraine.

What’s next?

The issue of the Patriot transfer remains open. The United States has already provided Ukraine with several of these systems, but their number is insufficient to cover the entire territory of the country. If Trump manages to agree on the supply of additional batteries from European countries, this will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

Negotiations between Washington, Kyiv and European allies are expected to begin in the near future on concrete steps to find and transfer air defence systems.
