US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of “playing with fire”. The American leader wrote about this on his social network Truth Social, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
“If it weren’t for me, really terrible things would have happened to Russia a long time ago. And I mean REALLY terrible. He’s playing with fire!” said Trump.
The statement came amid recent massive Russian attacks on Ukrainian regions. On 25 May, Trump had already commented on these events, noting that he was considering additional sanctions against Russia. According to The Wall Street Journal, a decision on new sanctions could be made this week, although it is not yet final.
In addition, the media reported that Trump is “seriously considering” lifting the restrictions imposed by the Joe Biden administration on Ukraine’s military actions, which could significantly change Kyiv’s support for the conflict.
