Turkey has completed the first phase of development of the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea. According to Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, daily gas production reached a record 9.5 million cubic metres.The official said this on the social network X (ex-Twitter), Ukrinform reports.
“The first stage of the Sakarya gas field has been completed. The daily production is 9.5 million cubic metres,” said Bayraktar.
Gas for 4 million households
The Minister stressed that this volume is enough to supply 4 million households. According to him, Turkey will continue to increase production at the field to reduce its energy dependence on imports.
The Sakarya field is the largest in the Turkish part of the Black Sea and a key element of Ankara’s energy strategy for the coming years.
