At a press conference in Moscow, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, together with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, noted the special role of the trusting relationship between the presidents of Turkey and Russia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin. According to him, these relations are the basis for successful cooperation between the two countries.
Fidan stressed that the trust between the leaders, who have “gone through important global challenges,” allows them to take decisive steps in bilateral relations quickly and effectively address key issues. “They have known each other for many years, they have developed a trusting relationship, and they are well aware of the issues in which they agree and disagree, and they are able to maturely work around differences,” the minister said.
He also stressed that the atmosphere of trust between the presidents is the most important element of Russian-Turkish relations. Work at the level of ministries and other structures is aimed at implementing the will of the leaders and achieving concrete results.
