On 17 January, Kyiv hosted the first ministerial meeting in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe format. The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro. The meeting was chaired by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported.
The meeting resulted in the adoption of a joint communiqué that emphasises unconditional support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and defence potential. The document also expresses the need to restore a just and lasting peace, in compliance with the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”.
The participants condemned Russia’s illegal invasion, which threatens peace and stability in Europe, and expressed their support for Ukraine’s right to determine its own security and future. They also recognised the “Peace Formula” as a realistic mechanism for restoring peace and stability, and reaffirmed their support for international efforts to release all prisoners and victims.
The meeting underlined the importance of regional cooperation and support for Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and territorial integrity. Participants called for increased international support for Ukraine and pledged to work on energy security and the restoration of the country’s energy sector.
