The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has reported censorship and manipulation by the social network X (formerly Twitter), owned by American businessman Elon Musk. This was announced on 12 April by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi.
This refers to a post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on 11 April, which provided official statistics on losses among Ukrainian children as a result of Russia’s full-scale aggression. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since the beginning of the war, Russian occupation forces have killed 616 children and injured another 1,869.
However, the X platform automatically hid the image with these statistics, marking it as “graphic content”, access to which is restricted for some users.
“Elon Musk’s platform hides evidence of Russia’s war crimes against Ukraine. This is not freedom of speech – this is participation in the silencing of the truth,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi in a statement.
The situation caused another wave of criticism against Elon Musk, who has been repeatedly accused of tolerating Russian propaganda and manipulating politically sensitive content.
At the time of publication of the news, representatives of Company X did not comment on the statement of the Ukrainian side.
