Ukraine’s intelligence discloses technical details of Russia’s new S8000 “Bandera” cruise missile

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has published the technical characteristics of the new Russian S8000 “Bandera” cruise missile. The details are collected in the database of the War&Sanctions portal in the section “Components in weapons”.

According to the DIU, the missile is developed by the sanctioned Kronstadt enterprise, and the main carrier is the Orion strike UAV. The missile is also being adapted for Mi-28N helicopters.

“The Banderol has a range of up to 500 km, a speed of 500 km/h and a warhead weighing up to 150 kg. The missile’s special feature is its ability to manoeuvre with a smaller turning radius than most typical Russian cruise missiles.

Intelligence officers recorded the presence of foreign components in the missile’s design. In particular, a Chinese-made Swiwin SW800Pro jet engine available on online platforms, including AliExpress. Also installed are an RFD900x telemetry module from Australia or a copy of it from China, a navigation system, Murata batteries (Japan) and Dynamixel MX-64AR servos from the South Korean company Robotis.

In addition, the missile contains more than 20 microchips made in the USA, Switzerland, China, Japan and South Korea. Most electronic components, according to the DIU, are supplied to Russia through the Chip and Dip distributor.

In total, more than 20 key components of the missile and about 30 companies involved in its production and supply have been identified.
