Ukrainian air defence forces shoot down 114 Russian drones

On the night of 21 March 2025, Russian troops launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using 214 Shahed-type attack drones and imitation drones of various modifications. The Ukrainian defence forces repelled the attack, destroying 114 enemy UAVs. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Telegram channel.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces were involved in repelling the air offensive. As of 09:30 a.m., 114 Shahed and other types of attack drones have been confirmed downed in the southern, northern and central regions of the country. In addition, 81 imitator drones were lost in the area, i.e. did not reach their targets due to the actions of Ukrainian forces.

The Russian attack hit several regions of Ukraine. In particular, the strikes affected Odesa, Khmelnytsky, Sumy and Kyiv regions. The situation was most tense in Odesa region, where the city and its surroundings were hit by a massive drone strike on the evening of 20 March. Three teenagers were injured in the attack, civilian infrastructure was damaged, and fires broke out in Odesa.
