Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff: Fiercest fighting continues in the Pokrovske sector and Kursk region

Over the last day, 123 combat engagements were registered in nine major sectors of the frontline. Almost half of the attacks took place in the Pokrovske direction and Kursk region, where the most intense fighting continues. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an operational update on 8 February.

Ukrainian defence forces struck 20 areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated. An enemy air defence system and an artillery system were also destroyed.

Russian troops conducted 106 air strikes, dropping 169 guided bombs, used 2,170 kamikaze drones and fired over 5,300 rounds of fire, including 127 from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Kharkiv sector, Ukrainian troops repelled an enemy attack near Vovchansk. In the Kupyansk sector, 10 Russian attacks took place in the areas of Zahryzove and Lozova. In the Liman sector, 13 occupants’ attacks were registered near Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Novolyubivka and Yampolivka.

In the Siversky sector, the enemy attacked 13 times in the areas of Bilohorivka and Verkhnekamianske. In the Kramatorsk sector, three combat engagements took place near Chasovyi Yar and Predtechyne. In the Toretsk sector, 10 attacks were registered in the vicinity of Toretsk.

The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk sector – 30 enemy attacks in the areas of Zelene Pole, Tarasivka, Mirolyubivka, Promin, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiyivka, Andriivka and Dachne. In the Novopavlivka sector, the occupants attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions nine times, trying to break through in the direction of Kostiantynopil. In the operational zone in the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 enemy attacks.

The situation remains tense, but the Ukrainian military is holding the line and inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
