In April 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine regained 115 positions at the front, preventing critical losses and enemy breakthroughs. This was announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, summing up the results of the month.

According to Syrskyi, the main efforts were focused on deterring Russian troops at the Sumy, Kursk, Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka directions. Thanks to the tactics of active defence, Ukrainian defenders not only held their positions, but also regained 115 positions lost earlier.

In addition, DeepStrike hit 62 military facilities in Russia, undermining the capabilities of the aggressor’s military-industrial complex.

Syrskyi also noted that April was a month of increasing the capabilities of drones, optimising the command and control system and enhancing personnel training. Scaling up of units to brigades with an enhanced drone component and manning of priority assault regiments is ongoing.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to transition to a corps system, with the new Army Corps and Air Assault Corps already formed and their manning completed, with a focus on centralised training and combat training.

The transfer of 30,500 Armed Forces servicemen from non-combat units to combat units was approved through the Army+ app.

The Commander-in-Chief also noted a positive trend: the number of criminal offences in the army decreased by 43% compared to last year.

“I thank the soldiers for their efficiency in combat and resilience. We are holding the line. We continue our coordinated combat work to destroy the enemy in order to bring a just peace closer,” emphasised Syrskyi.
