On 24 March 2025, another round of talks between the delegations of the United States of America and the Russian Federation concluded in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The meeting, which lasted 12 hours with breaks, was dedicated to finding ways to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This was reported by Russian propaganda agencies RIA Novosti and TASS.
The talks were held in a closed format at the luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel in the centre of Riyadh. The Russian side was represented by the head of the Federation Council’s International Committee, Grigory Karasin, and the FSB Director’s advisor, Sergei Beseda. The composition of the American delegation has not yet been officially disclosed.
According to Russian sources, the meeting was tense but constructive. On 25 March, the parties are expected to release a joint statement following the talks, which may shed light on the agreements reached or further steps.
This round of talks was a continuation of the dialogue that began on 24 March, as previously reported. The meeting in Saudi Arabia attracted the attention of the international community as it took place against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the escalating geopolitical situation.
The details of the negotiations remain unknown, but the fact that they were held in a neutral country may indicate attempts to find a diplomatic solution to one of the most serious conflicts of the 21st century. The international community is eagerly awaiting official statements from the parties that may determine further developments.
