Ukraine and Russia are on the verge of a complete ceasefire “like never before”, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said during a briefing on Monday, 24 March 2025. According to her, the United States is actively working to achieve this goal, focusing all efforts on establishing a truce, as reported by Korrespondent.

“We are working on only one thing – a ceasefire. I have nothing to say about what will come after the ceasefire, which has to manifest itself in full. And we are close to it. That’s what’s interesting. We’ve never been so close to a complete ceasefire,” Bruce said, emphasising the historical significance of the moment.

The State Department spokesperson stressed that the issue of a lasting peace will be considered only after the complete cessation of hostilities. “This scenario is feasible, because humanity has done it in the past,” she added, expressing optimism that a lasting settlement is possible.

Tammy Bruce also spoke about plans to extend the ceasefire to the Black Sea. “The goal now is to fully restore peaceful commercial activity. The Black Sea, of course, is key to that. We continue our contacts with both Russia and Ukraine. We intend to continue working to bridge this gap,” the official explained. According to her, the United States is seeking to facilitate an agreement between the two countries by acting as an intermediary in this process.

Bruce’s statement caused a wide response, as it indicates significant progress in the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, the specific details of the agreement and the timing of its implementation remain unknown. The international community is closely monitoring the developments, hoping for a speedy end to one of the largest conflicts in recent years.
