Today, Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, arrived in Beijing for important negotiations with Chinese leaders regarding the prospects of a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. During his visit, he met with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, conducting talks at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Following the meeting, Orban praised China’s peaceful initiative in resolving the conflict, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in achieving peace. “We highly appreciate your peaceful initiative regarding the conflict in Hungary’s neighbor. It is very important for Hungarians that China calls for peace worldwide,” noted the Hungarian leader.
In turn, Xi Jinping called on the international community to create conditions for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, expressing confidence in the necessity of a swift political resolution to the conflict.
Orban’s visit to China follows his recent unannounced trips to Moscow and Kyiv, where he also discussed the possibilities of a peaceful resolution to the conflict. His initiative has sparked various reactions in Europe, but Orban stressed that Hungary plays an important role as a mediator between the conflicting parties.
Under Orban’s leadership, Hungary has also deepened its relations with China in political and economic spheres, including strategic investments by Chinese companies on Hungarian soil. This visit underscored the importance of dialogue between countries that play a key role in global politics and security.
Against the backdrop of China’s growing influence regionally and globally, Viktor Orban’s visit to Beijing represents another step towards strengthening international cooperation and seeking a peaceful resolution to the complex geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe.
