On 5 April, the situation at the frontline remained extremely tense, with 178 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defence Forces and Russian Federation troops recorded. The most intense fighting took place in the Pokrovsk sector, where the occupants attempted to break through Ukrainian defences 75 times. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a morning report as of 6 April.
Russian troops continue their terrorist tactics of massive shelling and air strikes. Over the past day, the enemy conducted 99 air strikes, using 163 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it fired 5,449 times at Ukrainian positions and settlements, including 123 times from multiple launch rocket systems. The strikes also involved 2,237 kamikaze drones.
The enemy carried out air strikes on Khrinivka in Chernihiv region, Petrushivka, Krasnopillia, Bratenytsia, Naumivka in Sumy region, Kozacha Lopan and Slatyno in Kharkiv region, Havrylivka in Dnipropetrovs’k region, Pokrovsk, Komyshuvakha, Zorya in Donetsk region, as well as on Huliaypol, Lukianivske, Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kharkiv sector, one combat engagement took place near Kamianka. In the Kupyansk sector , six enemy attacks took place in the vicinity of Petropavlivka, Zahryzove and Nova Kruhlyakivka. In the Liman sector, the enemy attempted to attack 26 times near Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Katerynivka and other localities. In the Siversky sector, Ukrainian forces repelled five attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka and Verkhnekamianske.
The Kramatorsk sector saw three attacks near Chasovyi Yar and Hryhorivka. In the Toretsk sector, 20 attacks were registered in the areas of Kurdyumivka, Toretsk, Leonidivka, Dachne and Druzhba. The most intense fighting took place in the Pokrovsk sector, with a total of 75 attacks near Kotliarivka, Valentynivka, Oleksandropol, Tarasivka, Bohdanivka and other localities.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian forces repelled eight attacks in the areas of Rozlyv, Kostiantynopil and Burlatske. Another attack was registered in the Huliaipil sector near Rivne. In the Prydniprovskyi sector, the enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to approach Ukrainian fortifications. In the Kursk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 17 attacks yesterday, 322 artillery attacks were registered, 12 of them from multiple rocket launchers, and 22 air strikes involving 34 guided bombs.
There were no signs of enemy offensive groups forming in the Volyn and Polissya sectors.
In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck 12 areas where enemy manpower, equipment and air defence systems were concentrated. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding the line in the most difficult parts of the frontline, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
