Between the evening of 4 November and the morning of 5 November, Ukrainian forces repelled a large-scale air attack by Russian troops. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russians fired two X-59/69 guided missiles, attacked Kharkiv region with guided bombs, and used 79 Shahed attack drones and unidentified drones from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, and Orel.
Throughout the night, the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine, including anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups, actively countered the enemy.
As of 8:30 a.m., two X-59/69 missiles and 48 drones were confirmed downed in eight regions: Odesa, Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Khmelnytskyi. Another 30 enemy drones were lost in different areas, and one returned to Russian territory.
Thus, Ukrainian air defence has once again demonstrated its effectiveness, stopping a significant number of enemy air threats and protecting the country’s critical infrastructure.
