Russian troops have been spotted advancing in a number of settlements in Donetsk region, according to the DeepState analytical project. On the night of Thursday, 9 January, it became known that the occupiers were active in the following places:

  • Toretsk,
  • Sandy,
  • Vozdvizhenka,
  • Baranovka,
  • Salty,
  • Slavic woman,
  • Petropavlivka,
  • Novoyelizavetivka,
  • Kurakhovo.

Areas of attack

Most of these settlements are located in the Pokrovske direction, which indicates increased enemy activity in this region.

At the same time, Slovianka and Petropavlivka are located in the Kurakhove sector, which may indicate that Russian troops are attempting to expand their zone of influence in other sectors.

A threat to the region

Donetsk region remains one of the hottest fronts of the war. The enemy’s advance in these settlements endangers both the military defence and the civilian population of the region.

The Ukrainian military continues to deter Russian attacks, but the situation remains tense.
