The NASAMS air defence system purchased by Canada for Ukraine is already in Poland and will soon be delivered across the border. This was stated by Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair, Ukrinform reports.
According to Blair, Canada worked closely with the United States and the manufacturer Raytheon to assemble the system and arrange for its transport.
“We are working with our Ukrainian partners to ensure the delivery of NASAMS as soon as possible. I hope we will be able to share additional details soon,” the minister said.
The transfer of NASAMS is part of Canada’s broader support for Ukraine. Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to confirm the transfer of the modern air defence system.
NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) is a modern air defence system capable of effectively countering a wide range of threats, including cruise missiles, drones and aircraft. Its deployment will significantly enhance Ukraine’s defence capabilities and protect critical infrastructure.
The delivery of NASAMS from Canada is yet another testament to the unity of Western allies in supporting Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
