The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is transferring military resources to Russia, including KN-23 missiles, which are used for attacks on the territory of Ukraine. According to Andriy Chernyak, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in an interview with Radio Liberty, almost 60 such missiles have been used.
KN-23 characteristics and danger for Ukraine
The KN-23 missiles are based on outdated technology, which reduces their accuracy. However, the volume of missiles used indicates serious support from Pyongyang. In addition, the DPRK supplies Russia with a large amount of artillery ammunition. Chernyak noted that these supplies are measured in millions of units.
“We constantly observe the movement of cargo and containers that may contain artillery ammunition. This is a serious danger for Ukraine, as North Korea is actively using its warehouses to support Russia,” the DIU representative stressed.
Military Cooperation between Russia and the DPRK
According to Cherniak, Russia, despite having its own resources, is increasingly relying on ammunition supplies from North Korea. This indicates a growing military partnership between the two countries, which increases the threat to Ukraine.
Ukrainian intelligence continues to closely monitor the logistics flows between Pyongyang and Moscow in order to respond to new challenges in a timely manner.
