Executions of wounded: DIU interception reveals Russian commander’s order to kill Ukrainian defenders

DIU discloses new evidence of execution of wounded Ukrainian soldiers – order for execution was given by Russian commander

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has released another piece of evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian army. In an intercepted conversation, the commander of one of the occupation forces’ units gives a direct criminal order to shoot wounded Ukrainian servicemen.

“Three Khokhuls are climbing 300s somewhere. You don’t need to take them prisoner, just zero them out,” the invader cynically commands, according to an audio recording published by Ukrainian intelligence.

The DIU emphasises that this is not an isolated case, but part of the Russian military’s systematic practice of deliberately killing prisoners. According to Ukrainian intelligence, more than 150 such cases of execution of Ukrainian defenders who were captured or wounded have already been recorded.

“This order is a direct violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the killing of wounded and prisoners of war. The Russians disregard all the laws of the civilised world,” the DIU emphasises.

The published intercept is yet another proof of the criminal nature of Russia’s war in Ukraine and should be the subject of international tribunals.
