The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Air Force has struck for the third time in a row at the key command centres of the Hezbollah group in the Dahiyeh area, the organisation’s main stronghold in the Lebanese capital. This was reported by the IDF press service.
Targeted operation
According to the Israeli military, the aim of the strikes was to destroy Hezbollah’s infrastructure, which the IDF claims the group deliberately places in civilian areas, using the local population as human shields.
“We did everything possible to minimise civilian casualties. In particular, we collected intelligence, conducted surveillance, and warned residents of the danger,” the statement said.
The operation is aimed at destroying Hezbollah’s ability to produce, store and use weapons against Israel. The IDF emphasises that the strikes are intended to prevent possible attacks by the group on Israeli territory.
“The IDF will continue to act decisively to reduce the threat posed by Hezbollah and ensure Israel’s security,” the statement said.
The Dahiyeh district of Beirut is considered a key centre of Hezbollah. The strikes on the group’s targets are carried out against the backdrop of an escalating situation in the region. Israel has repeatedly declared its readiness to take active steps to protect its security and stop the activities of organisations that pose a threat.
Israel’s actions have elicited mixed reactions from the international community. While Western countries support Israel’s right to self-defence, many call for caution to avoid further escalation in the region.
