Israel’s military operation against Iran, which began after a large-scale missile attack on Haifa, will not be limited to a few days – it will last at least several weeks. This was reported by CNN, citing unnamed representatives of the governments of Israel and the United States.
According to an Israeli official, the administration of US President Donald Trump has not made any comments on the duration of the conflict. According to the official, Washington not only does not object to the current campaign, but generally supports Israel’s actions.
Commenting on the situation, a White House spokesperson said that the Trump administration is aware of Israel’s plans and will not exert pressure when it comes to self-defence. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of a political settlement: “The Trump administration strongly believes that this can be resolved through continued negotiations with the United States.”
At the same time, sources in the Israeli intelligence services believe that the intensive phase of hostilities may end sooner. In a comment to Fox News, a senior intelligence official said: “I think we can finish it in a few days… It’s good that the United States is on our side.”
Currently, Tehran and Jerusalem are exchanging strikes, which threatens to escalate into a large-scale regional war. The United States does not officially intervene, but positions itself as a key deterrent to both sides.
