The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) launched a series of precision strikes on the positions of the Hezbollah group in Lebanon. This was reported on 16 February by the Israeli army’s official Telegram channel.
The ministry said that the strikes were a response to a violation of the ceasefire signed in late November 2024. In particular, the military eliminated rocket launchers and weapons depots used by militants.
“Terrorist activity at these sites is a violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said in a statement.
Under the terms of the ceasefire, Israel had to withdraw its troops from Lebanon within 60 days, and Hezbollah militants had to leave the southern territories of the country. However, the intensification of hostilities puts the agreement at risk of failure.
The Israeli military emphasises that it will continue to “eliminate any threat to the state”.
