On the night of 27 January, Russia launched a large-scale attack with Shahed drones, damaging infrastructure, residential buildings and private homes in the Dnipro, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv regions. The Ukrainian Air Force repelled the attack, shooting down 57 enemy drones.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia has launched 104 Shahed strike UAVs and simulators fromvarious locations, including Orel, Kursk, temporarily occupied Crimea, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The Ukrainian Defence Forces, using aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups, shot down 57 attack drones and localised 39 imitators without any negative consequences.
Results and implications
- Affected regions: Dnipropetrovs’k, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv.
- Damage: critical infrastructure facilities, apartment blocks and private houses.
- Casualties: according to preliminary reports, no one was killed.
The highest number of strikes was recorded in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Dnipro, Khmelnytsky, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
