Massive drone attack: Ukraine repels 61 Shahed, there is destruction and casualties

At night, the Russian occupiers carried out one of the largest drone attacks on the territory of Ukraine. A total of 83 Shahed attack UAVs and various types of imitation drones were launched. Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 61 enemy drones, while another 22 drones were lost in the area. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

Main areas of attack

The attack was carried out from the Russian cities of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The Ukrainian sky was protected by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare (EW) units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces.

Destruction and victims

The downing of drones was confirmed in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. The strikes damaged residential buildings and infrastructure.

The most affected are the children:

  • Sumy region: Explosions damaged a car park and residential buildings.
  • Poltava region: The wreckage of a downed drone caused destruction in a dacha co-operative.
  • Kyiv: A non-residential building caught fire in Solomianskyi district due to falling debris.

Despite the large-scale attack, Ukrainian air defence once again demonstrated high efficiency, reducing the amount of damage and saving civilian lives.
