Massive rocket attack on Kharkiv: there are victims

On the morning of 25 December, Russian troops launched at least seven missile attacks on Kharkiv. The shelling injured two civilians, damaged infrastructure and caused fires.

Details of the shelling

According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, the shelling resulted in:

  • Damage to civilian non-residential infrastructure.
  • Several fires broke out.
  • A 39-year-old man was wounded and hospitalised.

The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, said that the strikes had hit the Saltovka and Kyiv districts. Two more people were injured in Saltiv district and are in serious condition. In Kyivskyi district, a fire broke out as a result of the hit, damaging the windows of neighbouring buildings.

Those affected

Sinegubov later clarified the information about the victims:

  • Two men sustained shrapnel injuries.
  • The victims were taken to hospital, their condition is assessed as moderate.

Appeal to citizens

Regional leaders are urging Kharkiv residents to stay in shelters as the threat of further attacks remains.

The shelling of Kharkiv is yet another act of Russian aggression that harms civilians and civilian infrastructure. The Ukrainian authorities continue to record war crimes for further international consideration.
