A Russian drone attack on Kyiv on the morning of 1 January partially destroyed the upper floors of a residential building in the Pechersk district and damaged infrastructure in other parts of the capital. According to the latest reports, three people were injured, two of whom were hospitalised.
Pechersk district: destruction and evacuation
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the top two floors of a six-storey residential building in Pechersk were partially destroyed. The fire, which engulfed apartments on the 4th and 5th floors, was contained to an area of 70 square metres.
Also:
- The residents of the building were evacuated.
- One woman was rescued, information about the victims is being clarified.
- Windows and doors were smashed on the territory of the adjacent school, the extent of the damage is being investigated.
Sviatoshynskyi district: debris and damage
In Sviatoshynskyi district, drone debris caused a fire in a non-residential area:
- Cars, garages and a tram track were damaged.
- Windows in a nearby residential building were smashed and some buildings were destroyed.
- The total area of the fire was 80 square metres.
All relevant services are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the attack and ensure the safety of residents. The city military administration continues to update information on the damage and casualties.
Meanwhile, videos from the crash sites of the drones began to appear on social media, showing the extent of the destruction.
