A joint operation by the Israeli security forces, conducted by the IDF and Shin Bet, has eliminated Majidi Akalan, the terrorist who commanded the 7 October attack on Nahal Oz. The operation took place on Friday, and the elimination of several key Hamas terrorists was announced, according to The Jerusalem Post.

Akalan was the deputy commander of Hamas’s Shata Battalion and was directly responsible for the 7 October attack on Nahal Oz. After that, he actively coordinated terrorist attacks against IDF military units in the northern and central Gaza Strip.

Other Hamas members were also killed in the operation: Mamdouh Mehna, a senior officer in Hamas’ tunnelling unit who was involved in the Nahal Oz attack, and Ahmad Sueidan, a company commander in the Shata Battalion. Sueidan took part in the capture of Israeli civilians in Gaza on 7 October. Mehna, in turn, coordinated the development of tunnels and training of terrorists.

This series of strikes is part of a week-long campaign by the Israeli Air Force against the Shata Battalion, which has killed several important terrorists in the unit.
