On the night of 21 December, Russian troops launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using 113 attack drones of various types and a S-400 missile. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the enemy attack was largely repelled thanks to the coordinated work of air defence, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups.
Details of the attack
- Means of attack are launched:
- 113 attack UAVs, including Shahed, and other types of drones.
- A S-400 anti-aircraft guided missile from the temporarily occupied Donetsk region towards Poltava region.
- Launch destinations: Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Berdyansk.
Results of counteraction
- Targets downed: 57 Shahed and other types of attack drones.
- Loss of attack effectiveness: Another 56 imitator drones were lost due to active countermeasures by the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
The air attack was repelled in 11 regions of Ukraine: Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Donetsk, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian forces continue to successfully neutralise Russian air attacks, despite the growing intensity and number of enemy weapons.
