Mykolaiv came under another brutal attack by Russian troops on the night before 15 October. According to the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, the city came under rocket fire at around 02:30, allegedly using S-300 missiles. The consequences of the attack were tragic: one person was killed and 16 others were injured of varying severity.

The missile strike caused widespread destruction. Debris and explosions damaged an infrastructure facility, a restaurant complex, shopping pavilions, residential buildings, and cars parked on the streets. The blast wave caused several fires, and rescuers continue to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

“It was a terrible night for our city. The enemy attacked us around 02:30. Important infrastructure, civilian buildings and cars were damaged. Fires have broken out and we are trying to put them out,” Vitaly Kim said in a message on his Telegram channel.

Among the victims of the shelling was a woman who died on the spot. Other victims sustained shrapnel and explosive wounds. The local authorities are working to provide assistance to the victims, and medical services are providing emergency care to the wounded.

In addition to the missile strike, on the night of 15 October, the air defence system in Mykolaiv region destroyed three Shahed drones. However, despite the success of the air defence, Russian troops continue to conduct chaotic attacks on civilian objects, leaving the city in constant tension.

The shelling of Mykolaiv is yet another act of terror by Russia that underscores how important it is to continue to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom and security for its citizens.
