Operational situation at the front: Defence forces repel attacks, enemy suffers losses

Over the last day, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 218 attacks by Russian occupants in various frontline areas. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a morning briefing on 7 January.

Aviation, missile forces and artillery struck 12 areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated. Two radar stations, two air defence facilities, and another important occupier’s object were destroyed.

The enemy carried out 64 air strikes, used 95 guided aerial bombs and more than 2,700 kamikaze drones. In addition, more than 5,000 artillery attacks were recorded, including 163 from multiple launch rocket systems.

Areas of combat operations

  • Kharkiv sector: Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks near Vovchansk.
  • Kupyansk sector: Four enemy attacks were repelled near Sinkivka, Petropavlivka, Topoly and Zahryzove.
  • Liman sector: The enemy conducted 13 attacks in the areas of Nadiya, Pershotravneve, Terny, Yampolivka, Zarichne and Makiivka.
  • Kramatorsk sector: Five combat engagements were recorded near Chasovyi Yar, Bila Hora and Stupochky.
  • Toretsk sector: Ukrainian troops repelled eight attacks near Shcherbynivka and Toretsk.
  • Pokrovske direction: The Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully stopped 41 occupants’ assault and offensive actions in the vicinity of 14 settlements, including Myroliubivka, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, Pishchane and Pokrovsk.
  • Vremivsk direction: 13 attacks were repelled near Kostyantynopil, Yantarne, Dachne and other locations.
  • Orikhivske direction: The only enemy attack near Novodanilivka was repelled.

The situation in other areas

The enemy did not conduct any assault operations in the Huliaipol sector. There were no signs of offensive groups forming in the Volyn and Polissya sectors.

Russian troops continue shelling the areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions from the territory of the Russian Federation.

The General Staff emphasises that the Armed Forces are effectively holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the enemy, and remain ready for any scenario.
