The DPRK has lost “several hundred” of its military, including killed and wounded, in the war against Ukraine. This was reported by The New York Times, citing a statement by a senior Pentagon official at a closed-door briefing.
According to the official, North Korea sent its soldiers to help Russia in its war against Ukraine. About 50,000 troops, including Russian and North Korean troops, have been deployed to push Ukrainian forces out of the border areas of the Kursk region.
Ukrainian troops carried out precision strikes on command posts and infantry positions of North Korean soldiers, which led to significant losses among the DPRK military.
The official noted that North Korean troops were not sufficiently prepared for active combat operations. “They have no combat experience, which makes them vulnerable to the actions of Ukrainian forces,” the Pentagon official added.
This case demonstrates Ukraine’s growing role in deterring the Russian-North Korean military alliance. At the same time, experts point out that the DPRK’s involvement in the conflict indicates Russia’s growing dependence on foreign aid.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia and North Korea had intensified military cooperation, including the supply of ammunition and other equipment. However, the participation of North Korean soldiers in hostilities against Ukraine has become a new round in the war, drawing criticism from the international community.
Ukraine continues to successfully strike at enemy positions, demonstrating the high efficiency of its Armed Forces even in the face of difficult conditions of multilateral aggression.
