Russia conducted a large-scale nighttime air strike against Ukraine, using 80 attack drones and four Iskander ballistic missiles. Starting at 21:30 on Sunday, 1 June, the enemy attacked the airspace of our eastern, southern and northern regions: Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attacks were carried out from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The enemy’s aircraft included 80 Shahed attack UAVs and imitation drones of various types, as well as three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh region and one Iskander-K cruise missile from Bryansk region.
Throughout the night, the Ukrainian air defence, which included aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces, repelled the attack. As of 08:30 on Monday, 2 June, air defence had shot down 15 drones with firepower, while another 37 fell or were suppressed by electronic warfare. At the same time, direct enemy hits were recorded in 12 localities.
In total, the enemy used 84 aircraft to strike Ukraine, but due to effective resistance, most of them were neutralised. Reports of casualties or damage are being verified.
