On Wednesday, 11 December, Russian troops carried out 20 attacks on the border areas and settlements of Sumy region, the Sumy Regional Military Administration (OVA) reports. A total of 114 explosions were recorded.
Affected communities and types of attacks
Eight communities were shelled:
- Krasnopilska community: mortar shelling (5 explosions).
- Velykopysarivska community: FPV drone attacks (6 explosions), non-residential buildings damaged.
- Esman community: FPV drone attacks (2 explosions) and mortar shelling (5 explosions).
- Miropilska community: artillery strikes and shelling from multiple rocket launchers (14 and 12 explosions respectively).
- Svesa community: three FPV drone attacks.
- Khotyn community: grenade attack (6 explosions).
- Putivl community: three mine drops.
- Bilopilska community: massive shelling with MLRS (32 explosions).
Consequences of the attacks
Russian troops are actively using FPV drones, mortars, artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, causing damage to both residential and non-residential infrastructure in the region.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration urged residents to stay in shelters during the air raid and report any new shelling to the competent authorities.
The shelling of the Sumy region’s border areas was part of a systematic effort by Russian troops to destabilise the region and destroy civilian infrastructure.
