Russia launches large-scale attack on Ukraine with over 100 drones: damage in several regions

On the night of 22 December, Russia launched 103 attack drones at Ukraine, of which 52 were successfully shot down by Ukrainian air defence forces. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

Shahed and other models of drones were spotted in many regions of Ukraine: Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia.

In addition, 44 enemy imitator drones were lost locally without causing any damage, and another drone headed towards Belarus.

As a result of the attack, private businesses, apartment buildings and property were damaged in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

This massive attack was yet another confirmation of the escalation of Russia’s use of drones to damage Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure. The Ukrainian defence forces continue to effectively counter air threats.
