Russian troops deliberately struck a residential area of Kryvyi Rih with an Iskander-M ballistic missile with a cluster warhead to cause maximum civilian casualties. This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.

“The Russian Ministry of Defence called the killed civilians and children in Kryvyi Rih ‘foreign military’,” the CHRD said.

According to official figures, 18 people were killed in the strike on 4 April, including nine children. Another drone attack that took place later resulted in the death of one person and the injury of seven others.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the strike was carried out by an Iskander-M missile equipped with a cluster warhead that hits a large area and has a high lethality, which is a direct attack on the civilian population.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence is trying to justify the war crime by claiming that it was a “hit on the place of a meeting of the Ukrainian Armed Forces commanders with Western instructors”.

Ukraine’s General Staff strongly refutes this disinformation, stressing that the missile hit a residential area and a playground where ordinary residents, including children, were present at the time of the strike.
