Russian airstrike on Zaporizhzhia: number of casualties rises to 113, 13 killed

The head of the Zaporizhzhya regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, said that the number of people injured in the Russian air strike on Zaporizhzhya has increased to 113, 10 of whom are in serious condition. The tragedy claimed the lives of 13 people, including a child.

Details of the attack

The airstrike was carried out on 8 January, using guided aerial bombs. The strikes targeted the centre of Zaporizhzhia, causing massive destruction and numerous civilian casualties.

“113 wounded, 10 of them in serious condition – these are the consequences of yesterday’s Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia,” Ivan Fedorov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the head of the JMA, there is a 13-year-old child among the victims. As of the morning of 9 January, 59 people were hospitalised, 10 of them in critical condition.

Increase in the number of victims

Earlier, 63 people were reported injured, but the number of victims increased overnight. In total, more than 80 people have sought medical care, and this number continues to grow.

Reaction to the tragedy

The Zaporizhzhia regional military administration and medical services are working in an intensified mode to provide the necessary assistance to the victims.

This airstrike is yet another evidence of Russia’s war crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine. The government calls on the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor and provide Ukraine with additional air defence equipment to prevent similar tragedies.
