On Saturday morning, the capital of Ukraine was again hit by a powerful missile attack from Russia. As a result of the enemy attack, one person was killed, three others were wounded, two of them hospitalised. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko.
According to him, the attack was a combined one – the enemy used kamikaze drones, ballistic and cruise missiles. Air defence systems were working intensively, but some missiles hit their targets. The Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi and Solomianskyi districts of the capital suffered the most.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the body of the deceased man was found in the Darnytskyi district – he was in the open air near the epicentre of the explosion. The deceased is currently being identified by law enforcement.
A large-scale fire broke out in a furniture shop in Obolon district. The upper floors of the office centre were also partially destroyed. Thirteen cars were destroyed or damaged alongside the building. In Darnytskyi district, a non-residential building was engulfed in flames, and in Solomianskyi district, a blast wave smashed windows in trade kiosks.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has opened criminal proceedings over war crimes. Rescuers, investigators and experts are working at the arrival sites.
This attack is yet another example of Russia’s terrorist tactics, which deliberately target civilian infrastructure and civilians. Ukrainian air defence forces continue to defend the skies over Kyiv, including with the help of allied equipment.
