Russian drone attack on Kyiv: fires in Pechersk district

This morning, on 1 January, Russian aggressors attacked Kyiv with Shahed drones. The Ukrainian Air Force spotted the direction of the enemy UAVs from the northeast, calling on residents to be vigilant.

“Kyiv city/district! Attention! Enemy attack UAVs in your direction from the north-east!” the Air Force reported .

Fires and destruction

The attack resulted in explosions in the capital. In the Pechersk district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, and all emergency services were quickly dispatched.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on his Telegram channel about a fire on the roof and in one of the apartments of a residential building in the same area. One person sought medical attention.

“There is also information that debris fell on another non-residential building in the Pechersk district,” Klitschko added.

Air defence operations

Air defence forces worked at the scene of the attack to stop the threat. Information on the extent of the damage and casualties is currently being updated.

The Ukrainian capital started the New Year on high alert, proving its resilience and ability to withstand the aggressor.
