Russian occupants are intensifying their attacks in the Zaporizhzhia sector, trying to advance deeper into the region and reach its administrative borders.
What is happening?
According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defence Forces, Russia is seeking to seize as much territory as possible before possible ceasefire negotiations.
“The military and political leadership of the Russian Federation has never concealed its intentions regarding Zaporizhzhia region. Before possible negotiations, the Russians are trying to gain a tactical advantage, and if they can, even reach the administrative borders of the region,” Voloshyn said.
What is changing at the front?
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have recorded increased enemy activity in the Orikhivske and Huliaypillia directions. The occupiers are amassing forces and using the tactics of small assault groups, which have already brought them partial success in other parts of the frontline.
“Since the beginning of spring, the number of attacks in these areas has increased significantly. The Russians are trying to implement the tactics of a “creeping offensive” – they are storming Ukrainian positions with small groups of infantry,” said the spokesman.
Is there a threat of a large-scale offensive?
So far, the main actions of the occupiers are aimed at local breakthroughs, but the Ukrainian military is ready for any scenario.
Ukraine continues to strengthen its defences in the south, and counterattacks by the Defence Forces have repeatedly stopped enemy attempts to advance.
