Russian troops have intensified drone attacks by launching new groups of drones into the airspace of Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Saturday, 4 January.

It is noted that during the day, from 11:00 to 20:00, Ukrainian air defence destroyed 14 enemy drones. Another 16 imitator drones were lost locally, but without negative consequences.

Direction of attack

The drone attacks were carried out from the north-east. Air defence forces are currently working to eliminate new groups of drones that the enemy launched into the skies over Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

The Air Force urged residents of these regions to remain calm, stay in shelters during the air raid and not to neglect safety measures.

Increased enemy activity

In recent days, Russia has intensified drone attacks, which may indicate a desire to deplete Ukrainian air defence forces and strike at strategic targets. The Ukrainian side, however, has demonstrated high efficiency in combating enemy UAVs, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
