Ukraine has experienced one of the largest air attacks since the start of the full-scale war. On Friday night, Russia launched a record number of air strikes on Ukrainian cities. This was announced by the head of the communications department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, during a national telethon.
According to him, the occupiers used a total of 407 attack drones, 6 ballistic missiles and 38 air- and ground-launched cruise missiles. Most of them – up to 30 cruise missiles and about 200 drones – were successfully destroyed by Ukrainian air defence forces. Another 167 drones were lost or lost contact in flight.
“Every week we break records in terms of the number of air strikes used. Today the enemy attacked en masse from different directions – from the south, east and north. The enemy is trying to overload the air defence system using a large number of imitation drones and missiles of various types,” Ihnat noted.
According to him, the attacks were recorded in almost all regions of Ukraine – from the eastern regions to Lviv. Despite the intensity of the attack, the air defence system showed one of the highest efficiency rates for the entire period of hostilities. However, given the scale of the attack, some hits could not be avoided.
This attack once again demonstrates that Russia is maintaining a high rate of attacks and is relying on the exhaustion of Ukraine’s air defence systems. At the same time, the defenders are not only withstanding the onslaught, but are also showing results that are surprising even to military experts.
