Rutte: Ukraine has the right to strike targets used for civilian attacks

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine’s strikes against Russia’s military capabilities, including strategic aviation and infrastructure, are fully justified because these weapons are used against civilians.

He said this in Brussels during a press conference on the eve of a meeting of NATO defence ministers, answering a question from Ukrinform about the impact of the Ukrainian armed forces’ attacks on Russia’s military potential.

“This is a matter for Ukraine. But we should not forget that these targets are used to attack innocent people and Ukrainian cities,” Rutte said. He added that it is from this perspective that such actions should be assessed, avoiding excessive comments on the situation on the battlefield.

The statement was made after the hits on Russian strategic aviation bases and another damage to the Kerch bridge, which Russia actively uses for military logistics.
