Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) have successfully repelled an offensive by DPRK troops fighting on the side of Russia in the Kursk region. According to the official Telegram channel of the Special Forces, 21 North Korean soldiers were killed and 40 wounded during the eight-hour battle.
The chronology of the battle
The operators of the 8th Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the infantrymen, held off the enemy attack using small arms, grenade launchers and sniper systems.
At the ninth hour of the battle, the fighters faced a shortage of ammunition: only a third of the initial supply remained.
“The operators decided to exfiltrate – a tactic to quickly withdraw the group from the battlefield to safety. The soldiers left the battle zone in two Humvees in a coordinated manner,” the SSO said.
This is the first documented case of a direct clash between Ukrainian forces and the North Korean military, which, according to intelligence, is supporting the Russian army in its aggression against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Special Forces demonstrated a high level of professionalism and effectiveness in the face of significant enemy numerical superiority.
