Denmark has handed over the second batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, which will begin to defend Ukrainian skies. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his official Telegram channel.

“The second batch of F-16s for Ukraine from Denmark is already in Ukraine. This is the leadership in protecting life that distinguishes Denmark,” Zelenskyy said.

The President also stressed that the first batch of Danish aircrafts had already been actively used to shoot down Russian missiles and save the Ukrainian population and critical infrastructure.

Strengthening Ukraine’s air defence

Zelenskyy noted that the transfer of the fighter jets provided Ukraine’s air defence system with additional capabilities to counter Russian attacks.

“If all partners were so resolute, we would have managed to prevent Russian terror,” the Head of State stressed.

International support and prospects

Denmark was one of the first countries to not only announce the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine, but also to promptly fulfil its obligations. This is a shining example of leadership among allies who are helping Ukraine defend its sovereignty and people.

The delivery of the F-16s is part of a larger initiative to modernise the Ukrainian Air Force, which also includes training for Ukrainian pilots and technicians.
