On the night of 9 April, Russian troops launched a massive attack with Shahed kamikaze drones in Kharkiv, targeting a civilian industrial area in the Osnovyansky district.

According to the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, the attack damaged the production facilities of about ten civilian enterprises, including a confectionery factory.

“These are civilian industrial facilities. We are still clarifying, as several companies can operate in one building on different floors,” said Sinegubov.

In total, the city was attacked by 19 Shahed drones that hit seven locations, causing five fires. At least 20 cars were damaged.

“The enemy has switched to Shahide to the maximum extent possible – drones are coming from different directions, trying to bypass air defences and hit civilian infrastructure,” added the head of the JMA.

The authorities have already started working to support the affected businesses. Some entrepreneurs have announced their intention to resume production, and the regional administration is preparing a package of assistance and paperwork for grants of up to UAH 8 million.

“People want to stay and work in Kharkiv,” said Sinegubov.

Rescuers, utilities and specialists in the restoration of damaged buildings are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the impacts.
