On 5 October, Russian troops launched powerful attacks on frontline settlements in Donetsk region, leaving behind traces of destruction and tragedy. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the shelling killed two civilians and injured six others.

It is noted that the areas of Bakhmut, Volnovakha and Kramatorsk came under fire. At 11:00 a.m. in Toretsk, artillery fire claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman who sustained life-threatening injuries. Only an hour later, at around 12:00, the enemy carried out an air strike on the village of Velyka Novosilka. An 86-year-old man was killed in the attack, and his 76-year-old wife sustained multiple shrapnel wounds.

At 15:00, the attack hit the town of Kostyantynivka. Five civilians, including three women aged 54, 63 and 74, and two men aged 54 and 72, sustained injuries of varying severity. All the victims received medical assistance.

The damage caused by the shelling affected not only residential buildings, but also infrastructure: power lines, gas pipelines, cars and garages. According to preliminary data, Russian troops used KAB-250 aerial bombs to carry out the strikes.

This tragedy is yet another reminder of the cruelty of war and its impact on civilians who continue to suffer in armed conflict.
