9 January 2025 – The situation in the area of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region continues to be very difficult. According to Andriy Besedin, the head of the Kupiansk city military administration, the front line is now just two kilometres from the city. The Russian occupation forces do not stop their assault operations, trying to break through the defences and approach the city.
Attacks on several fronts
According to Besedin, over the past 24 hours the enemy conducted more than 12 assault attacks in the Petropavlivka-Holubivka area, which is part of the central part of Kupyansk. The main goal of the Russians is to break through to the key Svatove-Kupyansk road, which will allow them to approach the city directly.
“The enemy is trying to reach the main Svatove-Kupiansk road in order to reach the city itself,” noted Besedin.
Other areas of attack
The situation is also getting more complicated in the Zahryzove-Lozova-Kruhlyakivka area, where the occupiers regularly conduct assaults to break through to the left bank of the Oskil River. The enemy is trying to cut important supply lines and strengthen its positions in strategically important areas.
