Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the main tasks of the Ukrainian military in the Kursk sector are to deter and destroy the enemy on its territory. He announced this on his Telegram channel on Monday, 11 November.
Syrskyi stressed the strategic importance of this region, where the enemy has concentrated a large number of military units. According to him, the activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia helps to keep Russian forces on their territory and prevents them from increasing pressure on key Ukrainian areas such as Pokrovske, Kurakhove and Toretsk.
“Thanks to the resilience of our military, we are preventing the deployment of tens of thousands of Russian soldiers who could otherwise attack our positions. This could have significantly complicated the situation on the frontline,” emphasised Syrskyi.
He also noted that Ukrainian defenders in the Kursk sector are under constant pressure as Russian forces are trying to force them out of their positions. In his turn, the Commander-in-Chief provided support to the commanders in organising combat operations, ensuring effective firepower and preparing reserves for further actions.
Syrskyi concluded that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to maintain control over the operational situation in this area, fulfilling strategic tasks to protect Ukraine.
