President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine implemented the special operation “Spider’s Web” without the participation of foreign partners. He said this during a briefing, commenting on a massive drone attack on four Russian military airfields deep behind enemy lines.
“Yesterday, Ukraine conducted an operation. We are grateful to our partners, but this operation was carried out independently,” the Head of State said.
According to him, the strike was aimed exclusively at military targets, including places from which Russia launches strikes on Ukrainian territory. The President clarified that similar actions had already taken place earlier, including a simultaneous attack by 400 drones that destroyed more than 40 pieces of Russian equipment, from artillery and air defence to tanks.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine does not demonstrate force for the sake of effect:
“We demonstrate it fairly – for military purposes. And we show it not only to the enemy, but also to our allies, who began to doubt. Trust in Ukrainians is returning.”
Earlier, SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk said that the strike had hit 41 Russian aircraft, including strategic missile carriers such as Tu-95, Tu-160, Tu-22M3, and an A-50 reconnaissance aircraft. According to intelligence estimates, 34% of Russian strategic aviation based at the main airfields was put out of action.
